Sustainability
“Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
As a family-run company, we record our CO2 emissions as part of our greenhouse gas balance sheet and support climate protection projects by purchasing Gold Standard certificates equivalent to our unavoidable emissions. This voluntary support does not make our company or our products CO2-neutral, but rather represents a contribution to the financing of international climate protection projects. Our goal remains the continuous reduction of our own emissions.
 | “The Gold Standard was developed with the participation of the WWF. This certification standard is the leading independent quality standard for climate protection projects. It is supported by over 60 non-governmental organizations.” |
Scope of our annual greenhouse gas accounting
We have been recording the CO2 emissions from our own production based on the cradle-to-gate approach since 2020, and since 2022 we have been extending this approach to cover the entire life cycle in line with the cradle-to-grave concept.
We also take into account the CO2 emissions of traded goods along the entire value chain, including logistics to our customers. On this basis, we continuously implement measures to avoid and reduce emissions.
"The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG) defines the allocation of greenhouse gas emissions to the respective scopes."
Transparency
Since 2022, we have had our sustainability performance assessed annually by Ecovadis.
As a user of the German Sustainability Code, we attach great importance to transparency and report publicly on our sustainability development. You are welcome to view our report here.
Since September 2022, the company has been a member of the United Nations Global Compact.
“The UN Global Compact is the world's largest initiative for sustainable and responsible corporate management. A total of 970 German companies participate in the initiative.”
