Infrared ink (IR)

Although IR inks are generally visible to the human eye, they cannot be recognized by infrared camera or barcode readers. Combining an IR visible ink with an IR invisible ink in the printing process produces a result that is similar to the 10 euro banknote shown here as an example. Apart from these, other invisible IR inks are available, which can be used for machine-readable barcodes.
